Technical Consultant - TCP/IP, firewalls, routers, switches, VLAN’s Oxford £25000 – £30000 + company car

Our client is one of the UK`s leading IT organisations and offer the following services: IT Support, Computer Support, Network Support and Technical Services providing a professional, consistent and reliable service.

Our client requires a technical consultant to deliver on site technical consultancy / projects / support to their increasing client base.

Technical Consultant – Role:

This exciting opportunity offers you the chance to develop and increase not only your IT skills but your consultancy and project management skills with an exciting, expanding and rewarding company. The ability to understand business IT needs and give advice and guidance on implementing IT infrastructures to assist our clients to gain the maximum business benefit from their investment in IT is essential.

Main Responsibilities:

Working in a team reporting directly to the Branch Office General Manager you will:

Scope, project manage and implement projects at clients sites ranging from 15 users to 400 users

Your main responsibility will be to visit client sites and implement technical solutions consisting of:

• Microsoft networking products mentioned below

• Trouble shooting network and connectivity issues

• Making recommendations to clients on how to implement a better IT infrastructure to ensure their businesses gain the maximum benefit from their investment in IT

Technical Consultant – Candidate:

You need to be a calm and assured person who works well under pressure and to tight deadlines, you must also be a self motivated individual with superb communication skills and be very well presented as you will be an ambassador for the company.

Ideally you will have:

• Achieved an up to date MCSE qualification

• Experience of implementing and configuring Microsoft server products (Windows 2003/ 2008 Server, Exchange 2003/ 2007 and Terminal Services 2003/2008)

• Extremely good knowledge of TCP/IP, Wide Area Networking and Local Area Network setup (including firewalls, routers, switches and VLAN’s)

Desirable Skills: The following product knowledge is highly desirable:

• Sophos Anti-Virus, Enterprise Manager + SAV Admin + Remote Update

• Windows Small Business Server 2003/ 2008

• Veritas Backup Exec for Windows version 8.5 onwards

• Microsoft Terminal Services design and implementation in WAN

• Cisco Firewall and WatchGuard Firewall implementation and configuration

• Web filtering technologies

• Citrix technologies
